Juan Eagle Award

2025 Juan Eagle has been awarded to the City and county of Broomfield

2025

The Colorado Association of Code Enforcement Officials is proud to recognize the Broomfield Code Compliance Unit as the recipient of the Juan Eagle Award for their exceptional commitment to community health, safety, and public engagement.

The Juan Eagle Award honors code enforcement professionals who go beyond traditional enforcement responsibilities to make a meaningful and lasting impact within their communities. Throughout 2025, the Broomfield Code Compliance Unit exemplified this mission by fostering strong relationships with residents, promoting public education, and enhancing the quality of life throughout the City and County of Broomfield.

Under the philosophy that successful code enforcement is built on communication, partnership, and service, the Broomfield team consistently sought opportunities to connect with residents in positive and productive ways. Rather than focusing solely on enforcement, the unit worked collaboratively with other city departments, community organizations, and residents to create approachable opportunities for education and engagement.

One of the most notable examples of this effort was the team's participation in community outreach events such as Coffee with Code Enforcement. These events brought together patrol officers, animal services personnel, and Code Compliance staff in an informal setting where residents could ask questions, discuss concerns, and gain a better understanding of local ordinances and city services. By making government more accessible and approachable, the Broomfield Code Compliance Unit helped strengthen public trust and foster meaningful relationships with the community they serve.

The unit's dedication to community engagement, professionalism, and public service reflects the very spirit of the Juan Eagle Award. Their efforts have not only improved neighborhood conditions and public safety but have also demonstrated how code enforcement can serve as a bridge between local government and the residents it serves.

Please join us in congratulating the Broomfield Code Compliance Unit, the 2026 recipient of the Juan Eagle Award, for their outstanding commitment to creating a safer, stronger, and more connected community.

The Juan Eagle Award is presented yearly to a member jurisdiction that has planned and successfully held a community event that embodies the values of code enforcement to protect the health and safety of the residents, while promoting good community involvement and values. The Juan Eagle is a traveling trophy and will live at the awarded jurisdiction for the year until it is presented again the following year. There are plenty of blank name plates on the award that would look great with your Department's name on it! Submit your community event to be featured here, showcase your teams efforts and inspire other members to create events in their communities too.
