CACEO Certification Course Standards

To ensure consistency in training and validate the professionalism of the Code Enforcement profession, CACEO has adopted the following standards for both the Basic and Advanced Certification Courses.

1. Pre-Requisites

Basic Certification Course

✅ Open to any interested person seeking professional development in code enforcement.

Advanced Certification Course

✅ Requires successful completion of the CACEO Basic Certification Course
✅ Minimum of one year of Code Enforcement experience required

📌 CACEO may accept a Basic Certification from another state as a prerequisite for the Advanced Certification Course.

2. Registration & Refund Policies

✔ Registrations may be transferable with prior coordination
✔ Registration must be completed online
✔ Payment must be made by credit card
✔ No fee reductions for limited attendance or providing your own materials
✔ Refunds are issued only to the original payment card
✔ No refunds within 60 days of the course start date

3. Basic Certification Course Topics

The Basic Certification Course focuses on foundational knowledge and real-world field skills essential for today’s code enforcement professionals.

5. Final Examination Standards

The final examination is designed to measure a student’s ability to retain, research, and apply information presented during the course.

📝 Passing Score: 70% Minimum

Important Testing Standards

  • Exams must be taken during the scheduled testing period
  • Students will receive results and certificates by email within one week
  • Passing students receive a Certificate of Successful Completion
  • Non-passing students receive a Certificate of Course Attendance
  • No challenge exams or test-out options are available
